Drew Hubbard
Drew Hubbard joined the DC Workforce Investment Council as Executive Director in August of 2023. As Executive Director, Mr. Hubbard will focus on leading the Workforce Investment Council’s continuing efforts to increase business engagement using sector-specific strategies, expand the knowledge and use of skills-based hiring by District business partners, focus on ensuring the quality of all workforce training programs, and develop and implement workforce strategies closely linked to the District’s economic development activities.
Mr. Hubbard has nearly twenty years of government experience in the legislative and executive branches of the District of Columbia, including serving as: a District Council Legislative Director and Committee Director with a primary focus on affordable housing, workforce development, economic development and re-entry policy; the Federal Relations Policy Analyst for the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs within the Executive office of the Mayor; Associate Director for the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) where he played a senior role in managing the Office of Apprenticeship Information and Training, the First Source Program, and the Business Services Group; and Deputy Director for Operations and Interim Director at the DC Department of Housing and Community Development.
Mr. Hubbard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Morehouse College and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Hubbard is a resident of the Woodridge neighborhood in Ward 5, where he resides with his wife, son and daughter.
