In January 2021, the WIC awarded the FY21 Healthcare Workforce Partnership Grant to the DC Hospital Association Program Services Company, Inc. (DCHAPSCI).
This $250,000 per year grant, for up to four years, will establish a healthcare workforce intermediary to champion a sustainable, market-driven workforce development program benefiting District’s residents and health care employers.
The Partnership will provide guidance to the District, particularly to the Workforce Investment Council (WIC) about healthcare talent pipeline development. The ultimate purpose of the Partnership is to increase the number of District residents employed in the healthcare industry and to meet the staffing needs of employers in such areas as hospitals, managed care organizations, private insurers, and other healthcare providers.

Grant Activities: The primary activities to achieve the goals and objectives are:
- Engagement & Retention – Create a health care sector partnership with representation across health care employers and stakeholders.
- Productive Relationships – Facilitate learning, connections and capacity-building among partners to commit to a market-driven, culturally-inclusive health care workforce development program.
- Data-driven Recommendations – Drive meaningful change in talent pipeline development for jobseekers, educators/trainers, and employers through data-informed recommendations for resource investments.
- Methodologies – Conduct qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the District’s workforce ecosystem; use the data to inform improvements in the health care workforce development system; and disseminate learnings and promote the sustainability of the Partnership
